Breast augmentation is a procedure that aims to increase the dimension of small or underdeveloped breasts or those that have lost volume after the birth of a child. The increase is obtained by means of an implant (prosthesis). In specific cases the patients' own fat can be used to moderately increase the volume of the breast.Picture gallery
Anaesthesia and hospitalization
A breast augmentation can be performed either under general or local anaesthesia (stand-by) and lasts about one hour with one night's hospital stay.
Convalescence
Medication includes the application of specific antiallergic plasters and the use of an elasticized bra beginning on the second day. Swelling tends to disappear in about a week, while potential bruises will take two to three weeks to disappear. Depending on the technique used, sutures may be internal or external. In the latter case they will be removed after 7-14 days.
